A tip of the hat to Junction
Why oh why hasn't the diocese learned that they just aren't supposed to take what does not belong to them? A message to the diocese: If you do not want things like what took place in this article (click to read) to keep happening, than why don't you start conducting the church in a way that restores trust. Taking property just because you believe you have the right to (which you don't have the right to do in this case) just isn't going to win you any friends, much less the hearts and minds of those whom you depend upon for generosity.

I have been to Junction St. Mary's to see the beautiful church and meet the concerned people who are desperately trying to save their church. On Tuesday, a crew from Cleveland again arrived and started removing items from the church. When a call was made to the Toledo Diocese, a spokesperson said the crew was there only to check on water in the basement. Seems odd that removing such items as the Stations of the Cross and putting up scaffolding to the church ceiling could help with water in the basement. Why would a contractor have to come all the way from Cleveland just to check the basement? I was told recently that the way to tell if a "church official" was lying was to see if his lips were moving. What more will it take for adult Catholics to realize what the Toledo Diocese tells us is suspect. Please support those who are fighting the closing and destruction of our parishes!
Sue, you mean you didn't know that the only people who are qualified to remove a little standing water in a basement are people who have to drive over 3 hours and setup scaffolding to do their work????!!! I guess I didn't know that either now that I think of it....
In fact, had it not been for the last time I was able to drink when the fountain of wisdom on Spielbusch spilled over, I wouldn't know that the proper way to winterize a church is to shut off the power, heat, and water without draining the plumbing. Oh, and the optimal time of year to do this is......wait for it.......MARCH!
Just think of how much we wouldn't know.
